What is involved with bridal make up
Having your wedding makeup done in a beauty salon or makeup counter is very different to having a Bridal Makeup artist travel out to your home or venue. This decision boils down to what works best for you. If you are going to a beauty salon, you will have to factor in travelling on your wedding, morning battling with traffic or maybe rain. Make your decision on what works best for you causing the least amount of stress possible.
Try to book your makeup artist roughly 8-12 months before your wedding day. Most
wedding suppliers will only take one wedding booking a day so if you’re hoping to book
someone popular try to book as early as you can.
Commonly asked questions:
My mum doesnt wear make up how to get around this?
I feel like as you get older, less is more especially when it comes to makeup. I love working with mature skin and I feel that you can subtly highlight features without that made up heavy look. Something as little as getting me to use their own lipstick or eye shadow can help take that uncertainty away.
Wedding trials – When do these happen?
Your wedding makeup trial is booked roughly 6-9 months before your wedding day. Once you have your wedding dress chosen, you can start to plan your hair and makeup around your dress. Bare in mind that summer weekend slots are the most popular days so these book out quickly for trials.
I like to wear a specific foundation, how does this work for my wedding?
Foundation is such a personal thing and it can be daunting trying something new. In my kit I carry numerous different brands, types and shades for everyone. Depending on your skin type, colour and coverage wanted I ensure you are happy and that you feel like yourself.
Do I need to be having Facials leading up to my wedding?
I get asked this question so many times by Brides. If your skin has a tendency to break out or is super oily or very dry/dehydrated a course of facials will really benefit your skin. Otherwise investing in a good face mask and exfoliator might be all that you need.
What happens the morning of the wedding?
On the wedding morning, I like to start with a Bridesmaid or Mum depending who is ready to go! I slot the Bride in somewhere in the middle so she’s not last.
Timing on the wedding day?
I aim to have everyone’s makeup done roughly one hour before you are due to leave. This allows time to get into your dress and have a glass of bubbly. I will stay with you right up until you leave doing final touches of your makeup.
Is Makeup done before hair?
Makeup can be done either before or after your hair.
I want to wear Tan for my wedding, how will this work with my makeup?
If you are planning to wear fake tan on your wedding day, have some on for you makeup trial, this will give you an idea of how they will work together. Tan can be one of the most disastrous things if it’s not right, so have a trial beforehand and make sure the tone is right for your skin.
What should I bring with me on the day of my wedding (Bride) ?
On your wedding day, you will need your lipstick or gloss for touch up’s. If you have a tendency to get oily, blotting paper is essential for removing excess oil throughout the day. A little compact with powder is ideal to have with you, the mirror will come in handy.
